KCU Has Three NAIA Scholar Teams

6.27.2014 | Grayson, KY

The Kentucky Christian University athletic department is pleased to report three of the school’s athletic programs have earned the distinction as “NAIA Scholar Teams” for the 2013-14 academic year. In order to qualify, each team must achieve a cumulative 3.00 gpa or better for the entire school year.

Earning the honor for this year are the KCU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams and the women’s volleyball team. KCU athletic director Bruce Dixon commented, “We are very proud of these three squads. It helps disprove the myth that athletics and academics can’t be done well together. Two of these teams finished in the top five, nationally and the third took an eventual national champion to overtime in the region final. The KCU community can take a tremendous amount of pride in these players.”

Men’s Basketball (3.00 gpa) – Mideast Region runner-up
Women’s Basketball (3.40 gpa) – NCCAA II 3rd place
Women’s Volleyball (3.37 gpa) – NCCAA II 5th place
