Men’s Basketball Goes 1-1 in Berea Classic
The Kentucky Christian University men’s basketball team traveled to Berea, KY to participate in the 2012 Berea Classic. On Thursday, the first night of the Classic, the Knights lost to the host NAIA school Berea College 63-74. On Friday KCU defeated Ohio University of Lancaster in the 4pm game, 71-69. The win against OU-Lancaster was the first win of the season for the Knights.
Kentucky Christian had three players score in double digits against Berea. Junior Ace Puckett had 12 points. Freshman Derek Lawson had 16 points. Senior Clay McKinzie led both teams with 20 points and 9 rebounders.
In the second day of the Classic against OU-Lancaster the Knights again had three players score in the double digits. Senior David Darden had 14 points. Senior Clay McKinzie led all scorers with 24 points. Junior Ace Puckett had a double-double with 10 rebounds and 12 points.
On Monday KCU will look to extend the wins when they traveled to Parkersburg, WV to play a double header with the Lady Knights against WVU-Parkersburg, at 5pm and 7pm respectively. The men will continue their road trip and head straight to Akron, OH to take on Akron-Wayne University Tuesday afternoon at 3pm.
