Knights Win Big Over Hilltoppers

On Monday evening, the Hilltoppers of Ohio University - Chillicothe came to Kentucky Christian University to take on the Knights. KCU was ready, and played well from the start, and took down the 'Toppers in a big way.

The Knights gave up the first basket to OU-C, but then they went on a scoring tear, with Tyler Farley hitting 2 treys and another bucket in the next few minutes to push ahead. Ace Puckett dropped in an inside two to put the Knights up at 10-7. The Hilltoppers then made a couple of baskets, and got a few stops, and took a small lead, only to have KCU's Dylan Genung take over the scoring for a couple of plays, then Caleb Ford dropped a couple of baskets. Throughout the rest of the half, KCU played the best defense and most productive offense that they have all season. They scored lots of points, had many assists, and played as selflessly as any team could hope to. The were ahead by 39 points at the break, 65-26, and every player was contributing on the floor. In the first half the Knights shot .743 from the floor, .769 from the arc, but only .33 from the line. They finished the game not quite as hot as that, but with very strong team statistics, shooting .597 and .448 from three point land. They were able to shoot 1.000 from the foul line in the second half, but the 2 of 2 only brought up the average to .455. The Knights had 31 assists on the evening, had 2 blocks, and 10 steals. They out-rebounded their opponent 41-30.

Caleb Ford had 25 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists; Tyler Farley dropped in 21, with 4 boards and 4 assists; Ros Goodwin had 12 off the bench, Dylan Genung and Adam Hopkins each had 11 points, while Genung added 3 assists. Boyce Wooten had 10 points, 9 boards, and 3 assists in only 14 minutes on the court. James Chafins had 6 points and 4 rebounds. Trevor Hunt had 5 points, and Ace Puckett had 3, but they accounted for 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals between them. Tyler Carrier had a strong performance with 9 assists and 2 rebounds, and only 2 turnovers on the night. They held OU-Chillicothe to .397 from the floor, and .263 from the three-point arc.

On Tuesday, 2-11, both the Knights and the Lady Knights travel to northern West Virginia to take on WVU-Parkersburg. The women play at 6, and the men are at 8 PM.
