Knights Win at Morthland College
On Valentine's Day, the Knights played their first game at Morthland College in southern Illinois. The Knights had beaten the Patriots in Grayson just a couple of weeks previously, but were playing even better since that game, and the long bus ride seemed to have no ill effect on the Kentucky Christian.
They played strongly in the first half, and got out to a 19 point lead by the half, at 55-36, and outscored the Patriots by a few points in the second half, giving up 39 points, but throwing in 42. The Knights were led in scoring by Caleb Ford with 27 points and 8 rebounds, while Trevor Hunt dropped in 16 and pulled down 9. Dylan Genung scored 15, and was 5 of 6 from the free throw line. Genung, Hunt, and Tyler Farley each had 4 assists. Farley dropped in 14 points and was credited with 2 rebounds. Ace Puckett had 8 points and 6 rebounds.
The Knights are traveling on to Nashville on Friday evening to take on the Flames of Welch College on Saturday afternoon. A victory at Welch should secure the #2 seed in the upcoming Mid-East Region tournament. KCU Men's Basketball is now 11-13 on the season, after a 1-11 start.
