History of KCU v Belhaven
Series KCU 0 Belhaven 1
KCU and Belhaven have faced off just once before in 2009 at Jackson, MS. During the teams only match-up Belhaven came out on top 41-14.
Knights Start Season Strong, Struggle Lately
The Knights started out the 2012 season very strong, with their best start in history, going 2-0 and looking as though they were going to be the surprise team in the Mid-South Conference. In their past three games, two of which were against their toughest opponents of the season, KCU has struggled to find a rhythm offensively and to put points on the board. Even though the results weren’t what the team and fans were hoping for there have been some bright spots in the three losses. The Knights defense has proven to be one of the top defenses in the Mid-South and will continue to improve. Quarterback Graham Johnston is finding two go to receivers in Caleb Cox and Lane Knost. The running backs are starting to get healthy and back to 100%, which will take pressure off of the quarterback.
Belhaven a High Flying Offense
After starting the season with 10 point and 13 point games the Blazers have turned up the heat and scored 30, 70, and 56 points in their next three games. Belhaven has a balanced attack, averaging over 200 yards per game in both passing and rushing. The Knights defense will have to play smart and strong to stop the attacking Blazers.
Part of the reason the Blazer’s offense has been so successful has been the fact that their defense has really come together and is giving them a short field to work with and they are taking advantage of it. In order to defeat the well round Belhaven team the Knights will have to show up in every aspect; offense, defense and special teams, on the field Saturday.
