Mid-South Conference Announces Football Players of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Cumberland University’ Lemeco Miller, University of the Cumberlands’ Dewaun Harrison and Kentucky Christian University’s Andrew Slikker are the Mid-South Conference Football Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6, conference officials announced on Monday.
The weekly honor is the second straight for Miller and the second of his career. Harrison and Slikker earn their first weekly conference honor of the season and of their careers.
Miller set career-highs with 175 rushing yards and five touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 42-21 win over Union College on Saturday to earn Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
The Huntsville, Ala., senior running back scored three times in the fourth quarter last week to break open a tight game. Miller ended the day with 226 yards of total offense.
Miller finished with touchdown runs of 3, 6, 7, 7 and 20 yards. His 175 rushing yards is his fifth 100-yard game of the season and sixth of his career.
Miller leads the Mid-South in rushing yards per game (121), total rushing yards (726) and rushing touchdowns (13). He also leads the NAIA in total touchdowns (14) and is fourth in rushing yards this season.
No. 17-ranked Cumberland improves to 5-1 on the season with the win. The Bulldogs are 1-0 in the MSC West Division.
Harrison was all over the field in the Patriots’ 31-27 win at No. 23-ranked Faulkner University to earn the MSC Defensive Player of the Week.
In addition to his seven tackles, the Chickamauga, Ga., sophomore linebacker finished with two tackles for a loss, a pass breakup and an interception. Harrison returned his pick 42 yards for a Cumberlands’ touchdown.
Harrison is tied for second in the conference with three interceptions. His two defensive touchdowns lead the MSC.
No. 9-ranked Cumberlands is 6-0 on the season following the win. The Patriots are 2-0 in the MSC East Division.
Slikker hit the game-winning field goal in Kentucky Christian’s 13-10 win over Belhaven University to earn MSC Special Teams Player of the Week.
The Mission Viejo, Calif., sophomore kicker scored seven of the Knights’ 13 points in the win. Slikker was perfect on the day making his only extra point attempt and both field goal tries of 33 and 34 yards.
His 33-yard field goal came as time expired to secure the win.
Slikker is 8-for-12 this season in field goals and 9-for-10 in extra points. His eight field goals are tied for the most in the MSC and third best in the NAIA this season.
Kentucky Christian is 3-3 on the season, including 0-1 in the MSC East Division.
