Penalty Kick Cost Knights
Early in the season the Knights soccer team traveled to Hillsboro, OH to take on Southern State but lightening but an end to the game and both teams decided to reschedule and play a new game October 1, 2012.
The play in the game was fairly even and that showed on the score board. At the half the two teams were tied at 0-0 and both wanted to come out strong and be the first one to put a goal on the board. Neither team was able to maintain a good possession in their offensive side of the field until late in the second half when SSCC put together a run that resulted in a penalty on KCU in the box. The foul resulted in a penalty kick with 11 minutes left to go in the game.
Southern State was able to put the penalty kick into the back of the net giving them the 1-0 lead over KCU and that proved to be the game winner.
The Knights are in Mid-East region action this weekend when they host Crown College Friday at 4pm and Johnson University Saturday at 1pm. The men’s and women’s soccer games on Friday will be live on www.ihigh.com/kcu
