Men's Soccer 1-1 On The Weekend
KCU Soccer traveled to the Knoxville, TN area for a couple of conference matches this weekend, and came away with a win and a loss.
On Friday, KCU played Johnson University, a team that they had beaten earlier in the season at home. In the 34th minute, Junior Midfielder Jordan McClarnon took a pass from Trent Smith and put it in the net for KCU's first goal of the night. In the 60th minute, Logan Patterson on Johnson University evened the count. Then in the 76th minute McClarnon fed Spenser Lindsey who scored to put away the game for KCU. Keeper Chace Adkins carded 6 saves, while the KCU offense managed 27 shots, 15 of them on-goal. The Knights took 8 corner kicks, while giving up 7.
On Saturday, the Knights traveled to Powell, TN to meet The Crown College for a 12 Noon match up. Crown's Micah Hatcher scored a solo goal in the 22nd minute, giving The Crown the lead. They changed their game plan and began a more defensive style of play. The Knights were never able to crack the defensive line, and 1-0 was the final. KCU took 13 shots to The Crown's 10, but gave up 7 on-goal attempts. Each keeper was credited with 6 saves. KCU took 5 corner kicks while giving up only 4.
KCU's record is now 6-9, and they travel to Portsmouth, OH on Monday to take on the Shawnee State University Bears.
