Knight Soccer Defeated by Shawnee State Bears
Men's Soccer traveled to Portsmouth, Ohio today to take on NAIA rival Shawnee State University. The Knights had just split a couple of conference matches over the weekend, and were hopeful of some strong play to help rebound and propel them into the post-season. Shawnee played well, and scored quickly, in the 3rd minute, off of a deflection. They scored in the 11th, 17th, and 25th minutes, to take the half-time score to 4-0. In the second half, KCU's Micheal Lien scored on a Jeremy Gross assist, from an indirect kick. But Shawnee State was able to score 2 times in the half as well, making the final 6-1.
Goalkeeper Chace Adkins was credited with 13 saves, while KCU managed only 4 shots on-goal. The Knights gave up 8 corner kicks, while taking only 1 themselves. SSU was credited with 29 shots.
The Knights are back in action on Thursday evening in Parkersburg, WV, against WVU-Parkersburg, with the kick-off taking place at 6 PM. This will be their last regular season match. They are currently 6-10 on the year.
The Regional Tournament format has been released, and KCU is expected to play on Friday, November 1, at 5 PM, possibly against Appalachian Bible College
