Lady Knight Hoops Falls to Midway
On Tuesday, the Eagles of Midway College came to Grayson to do battle with the Lady Knights. It was a tough game for the Knights, as Midway was able to platoon more than 2 full squads of players into the game at a time. The difference in fresh legs may have played a part in the outcome. KCU was ahead early in the game, and seemed in control of the action, but late in the first half Midway pushed through and took the lead, and never looked back. The score was 39-30 at the half, and the final was 84-75. KCU made a couple of runs late in the game, but never closed the gap to closer than 7 points.
KCU was led in scoring by Sharonda Jones with 28, on 13 of 16 shooting. Tanya Bowens had 16 points and 8 assists, while Jana Glick dropped in 10, and recorded a double-double with 12 boards. Allie Slone had 5 points and 6 rebounds. The Lady Knights shot .527 for the game and .923 from the line. Midway was led by Tara Hill with 18 and Miranda Rone with 17, but three other players dropped in 11 each. Midway won the battle of the boards 35-31, and had 2 fewer turnovers than KCU.
The Lady Knights play on Thursday evening in the night cap of the Super 8 Tournament, at 8 PM against Asbury University.
