Lady Knight Super 8 Basketball
The Lady Knight side of the Super 8 Basketball Tournament is completed, and KCU was challenged on all fronts. They came out of the weekend having won only 1 of their three games. After falling to Asbury University on Thursday evening in a heart-breaker 87-78, they bounced back and played well against Grace Bible College and won 71-36. On Saturday, they fell to University of Cincinnati- Clermont 51-64. In the Cincinnati-Clermont game, KCU was out-rebounded 43-28, and they were out-shot .490 to .328.
Over the weekend, the Lady Knights were led in scoring by Tanya Bowens with 56. Sharonda Jones had 28 and Jana Glick dropped 27. Ashleigh Gyalog had 17 while Allie Slone scored 14, and Paige Warren dropped 11. Bowens led in rebounds, with 15, while Monica Stevens had 14, Jessica Marshall had 13 and Glick pulled down 12. Bowens had 14 assists while Katelyn Meyer had 9. Jana Glick was credited with 3 blocks.
During the 3 games, KCU had 32 steals, while their opponents could grab only 19. The Lady Knights shot .630 from the line, while their opponents hit .714. While KCU outscored their opponents 200-187 down this stretch, the won only 1 of the 3 games.
On Tuesday night KCU will host Indiana University-Southeast at 7 PM, then they are off to the Philadephia, PA area where they will play in the Valley Forge Classic, against Hillsdale Freewill Baptist College, Lincoln Christian University, and host Valley Forge Christian College. The Lady Knights are now 4-4 on the season.
