Lady Knights Fall to Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles
Four weeks ago, the KCU basketball teams traveled to Pippa Passes, KY to do battle with the Eagles and Lady Eagles of Alice Lloyd College. Tonight, Alice Lloyd returned the favor by coming to Grayson for a double-header with KCU. The women played the first game, and it was a tough match up for the Lady Knights. Alice Lloyd was a little taller in every position, and in some cases a little stronger and quicker, too. The Lady Eagles got out to a quick start, and were ahead 8-14 6 minutes into the game. They pushed their lead to 12 by the half, at 41-29. KCU played them even in the second half, with both teams scoring 39 points, and the final being 68-80.
KCU was led by Tanya Bowens with 19 points and 3 rebounds, and Jana Glick with 14 points and 7 boards, while Ashleigh Gyalog and Sharonda Jones each put in 10 points. Jessica Marshall had 6 points on 2 of 4 shooting from behind the arc, and she had 7 rebounds as well.
KCU shot .394 from the field and .263 from 3-point land, but managed .786 from the line. Alice Lloyd fired at the rate of .545 from the floor, but managed only .300 from the stripe. For Alice Lloyd, Ariel Nickell had 28 points while Carla Booth dropped in 20.
The Lady Knights will host Berea College on Friday at 7 PM.
