Lady Knights Soccer Falls to Oakland City University on Senior Day

10.12.2013 | Kentucky Christian University -- Grayson, KY

The Lady Oaks of Oakland City University came to Grayson to meet the Lady Knight soccer squad for the final home contest of the Women's Soccer season. It was a chance to play once more in front of the home crowd, and it was a chance to honor the seniors on the squad, and thank them for their efforts and the memories that they have created. Kelli Bonnette is a senior from Alexandria, Ohio, and a first-year Lady Knight soccer player. She played in the defensive line and the defensive mid-field, and wears # 13. Rebecca Sanicola is a senior from Frederick, Maryland; this is her second season as a Lady Knight soccer player, and she wears #8. Rebecca played most of her minutes in the mid-field position. The players were recognized prior to the opening kickoff, and they received flowers and a gift.

Oakland City University was a small squad, with only a few subs on the bench, but they were a persistent bunch. They scored goals in the 20th, 28th, 30th, and 37th minute in the first half, and put three other goals on the board in the second period. The Lady Knights managed only 7 shots on the day, and just 2 on-goal. KCU keeper Chelsea Gallinger had 8 saves.

The Lady Knights will play next at Johnson University on Friday, October 18, at 5 PM.
