Lady Knights Come Home Champions
During a weekend trip to Chicago the Kentucky Christian University women’s volleyball team had some business to take care of. While they took time out to enjoy the city the girls knew that job #1 was to play volleyball and to win the Moody Bible Institute Tournament.
On Friday night the Lady Knights had to play back to back games against Indiana University Northwest and Kuyper College. After a long day of exploring the city, focus was tough to come by for KCU. In the first set against IUNW they struggled to put together quality points, but dug deep and pulled it out 25-21. Getting into a rhythm after the first set the Lady Knights took care of business and won the next two sets 25-14 and 25-9 to defeat IUNW.
Staying out on the court to play their next match proved to be beneficial for Kentucky Christian, they didn’t have to worry about sitting around and getting cold, staying in their grove they defeated Kuyper College 3-0 (25-4, 25-14 and 25-23). With their victory over Kuyper, KCU won their pool and would face the winner of the other pool in the championship match Saturday afternoon.
The host school, Moody Bible, won the other pool and would prove to be a tough matchup for Kentucky Christian. The first set of the championship game Moody got up early on KCU with the 14-7 early lead. The girls were able to rally back and win the set 26-24. Coming back from being seven down put a fire under the Lady Knights and they won the next two sets 25-14 and 25-19. With the victory Kentucky Christian was named the Champions of the Moody Bible Institute Tournament.
Lauren Dunn was named a member of the All-Tournament Team and Ally Hall was named the MVP of the Tournament.
The Lady Knights travel to Cincinnati Christian on Tuesday night to try and avenge one of their few losses from early in the season.
