Volleyball Wins One; Loses One
Kentucky Christian began the second day of the Cumberland University VolleyDawg Tournament seeking their first win of the weekend and it didn't take long for the Lady Knights to accomplish that task. KCU defeated Ohio Valley University 3-0 (25-17, 30-28, 25-17) to begin Saturday's play.
The Lady Knights were paced by Jenna Kelley's 14 kill/2 ace/3 block assist performance. Megan Daniel chipped in 8 kills and Lauren Dunn accounted for 27 assists and 4 assisted blocks. Defensively, Jessi Hartzler and Abbi McIlhany had 17 and 11 digs respectively.
Martin Methodist College defeated KCU in the Lady Knights' final match of the tournament by a 3-1 score. Service errors and sloppy play doomed the team from rescuing an overall split for the tournament.
Once again, Kelley (15 kills) and Daniel (11 kills) were bight spots for KCU on the offensive side of the net along with Dunn's 34 assists. A defensive presence at the net was sorely missing as MMC hit a blistering .440 in the match's final set to wrap up the win.
Kentucky Christian travels to Cincinnati, OH to take on the Golden Eagles of Cincinnati Christian University on Tuesday, October 1st. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM
