Lady Knights Lose to Berea

10.29.2013 | Berea, KY

After a strong practice on Monday, the Lady Knights felt well-prepared for the trip to Berea College on Tuesday. They were confident, and they were ready to compete with a strong team. And they did compete, winning the first set by a 10-point margin. And like so many other times when a team wins by a good margin, they begin to coast. And they coasted to a 3-1 loss to a pretty good Berea squad, one that is having the best season in Berea College volleyball history.

The Lady Knights were led offensively by Abbi McIlhany, who had 12 kills on 32 swings, with no errors, for a .375 average. She also had 12 digs and 10 receptions. Kylie Rice was next with 10 kills in 22 swings, and 1 block, while Magen Daniel had 10 kills in 28 swings, but with 6 errors. Jenna Kelley had 8 kills, 13 digs, and 1 ace. On the defensive side, the Lady Knights managed only 2 blocks on the evening; Libero Jessi Hartzler had 24 digs and 41 receptions with only 4 errors.

KCU travels to Mt. Hope, WV for NCCAA-II Mid-East Region tournament this weekend. KCU earned the #1 seed in the tournament, and will play host Appalachian Bible College at noon on Friday, and then The Crown College at 4 PM.
