Knights Beat Crown to Go to Championship Game
The Kentucky Christian men’s basketball team had to face Crown College on Friday afternoon in the semi-final game of the Mid East Regional Tournament. The game was going to be a tough one, the Knights and Crown split their two regular season games, each winning on their opponent’s home court. If the Knights wanted to win they knew they had to play hard and smart against a deep Crown bench.
Crown got an early five point lead on KCU and it started to look like Crown was going to pull away with the victory but the Knights buckled down and went on a 12-0 run to get a seven point lead and the Knights did not look back. To maintain the lead the Knights needed every player to step up and play their best, and they did. The three leaders of the team really stepped up with their offense, Clay McKinzie score 23, Drew Johnson had 25, and Blandon Clemons 27 to lead the Knights to the 96-79 victory.
With the win over Crown the Knights will now face Ohio Christian University in the Championship game on Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm, after the women’s championship game. If you can’t make it to Louisville to watch the game, check out live stats by looking at the men’s basketball schedule on the KCU athletic website or get live in game updates through facebook or twitter.
