Poelker Signs with KCU Volleyball
Ritenour High School senior Stephanie Poelker signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Kentucky Christian University next fall. A four-year player for the Huskies, Poelker played a significant role on the team’s success last season. The 2010 season was one of the best in school history, with RHS earning a 20-8 record and finishing third in the Suburban North Conference (SNC).
Stephanie broke the school record with 365 digs and set the individual program mark of 33 digs in a single match. Poelker also earned second-team all-conference honors and was named the Huskies defensive player of the year.
She also excels in the classroom and was named academic-all state and to the SNC all-academic squad. RHS head girls’ volleyball coach Ellen Kim had this to say about Poelker, “We’re very proud to have Stephanie going on to play in college to represent Ritenour and we’re sure she will continue to be extremely dedicated to the sport she loves while providing great defense at the collegiate level.”
“Steph has everything that we want in a player. Dedication, desire, skill and most importantly a spiritual content that is an exact fit for our team,” stated KCU head coach Bruce Dixon. “I am extremely pleased to have her join the Lady Knights”.
